Deputy delivers a baby after stopping a car for speeding: it's a girl!

A Florida deputy near Naples pulled over a speeding motorist this week and did not issue a ticket. The driver told the officer he was speeding because his wife is pregnant and about to deliver.

The motorist was driving 15 mph over the speed limit about 4 a.m. Tuesday. Deputy Robert Pounds thought he was making a routine traffic stop when he saw a car going 63 mph.

As Pounds approached the car, the driver calmly told him he understood why he stopped him, but he had a good reason. He got a blanket from his car and helped the couple welcome a newborn into the world.
